James is a RICS Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer with considerable experience across both the public and private sector. He is an Associate Director within the Development Consultancy Department, and has over the past 12 years been involved in a wide variety of work, including valuation, planning and financial viability, complex development agreements and Strategic portfolio asset management.
He is experienced in valuing a wide variety of residential and commercial property across the UK, and as far afield as the Channel Islands. With extensive experience in the midlands and south east markets, he has primarily focused on the Greater London market since late 2011.
Formally employed at the London Borough of Hackney, initially starting in an asset management role overseeing Hackney’s commercial portfolio, before moving into a Senior Development Surveyor role. He was responsible for advising Hackney’s Planning Service on all major planning applications which were subject to a viability review, though other responsibilities included acting for the Hackney in CPO negotiations within its Estate Regeneration programme, as well as overseeing and advising on disposals and potential acquisition opportunities for the Council.
James has excellent negotiation skills, with a proven track record and a keen eye for detail. His broad property knowledge is invaluable when he is negotiating planning viability assessments, and through his experience at Hackney, he has built up a sound knowledge of the guidance and appeal cases which helps determines planning viability.
