Strettons Agree New Lease for London’s Largest Creative College

Uplands Business Park Creative College

London’s largest creative college has agreed a new lease for its campus at Uplands House in Walthamstow in a deal which will see the college commit its future to the Borough and continue to provide educational opportunities for thousands of students.

Big Creative Education (BCE), which is marking its 20th anniversary in Waltham Forest, has agreed a new lease for the building on the Uplands Business Park on Blackhorse Lane. BCE has signed a 15-year lease at £150,000 per annum in a deal completed by Strettons on behalf of BlackRock.

BCE has had a campus at Uplands House for the past four years and offers access to opportunities in the creative and cultural industries for students from all backgrounds.

The building features classrooms, studios and resources which are essential to support the achievement and career progression of the students. These include dedicated music studios, gaming suites where aspiring games designers develop their craft, dance and drama studios, fashion, makeup and media suites and a fitness centre. With one in six jobs in London being in the creative industries, BCE is making a major contribution to the lives of young people, and the local economy.

Alexis Michaelides, Founder and MD of BCE said: “Securing the new lease means that we can plan for the future with certainty and continue to invest to develop Uplands House and create more specialist spaces. Of our 20 years, last year was one of our best academically with high levels of achievement from our students across all subject areas, including maths and English. We plan to kick on further from here, to offer opportunities to more young people in Waltham Forest and help improve the local community and support businesses.”

Uplands House is a self-contained two-storey building with a total area of approximately 9,722 sq.ft over the ground and first floor together with forecourt, rear parking and fenced compound. It is part of Uplands Business Park, a vibrant mix of industrial, warehouse, and studio/office space suitable for creative users.

The business park has a total of 45 units, ranging from 6,327 sq ft up to 77,347 sq ft. The estate is well situated with the A406 North Circular Road, M11 Junction 4 and Blackhorse Road Station within a short distance. Uplands Business Park is home to other creative establishments including Signature Brew, Arbeit Studios, Square Mile Coffee Roastery, Truman’s, Vibration Group, Jump London, Allplants and Minor Figures.

Neal Matthews, Strettons’ Agency Director, said: “Our agency team is pleased to have secured another lease for BlackRock, one which will enable  Big Creative Education to continue with the development of its Uplands House campus thereby enhancing the career aspirations of so many young people and continuing the College’s contribution to the vibrancy and growth of Waltham Forest and north east London.”
