Duravit opens first dedicated UK showroom
Strettons advised on the deal which sees luxury German bathroom brand secure prime Clerkenwell location.
Premier bathroom designer and manufacturer Duravit opened its first UK standalone flagship showroom in Clerkenwell - the heart of London’s furniture and design district.
Given Duravit’s premier market position, Clerkenwell, with its concentration of design professions supporting high-end furniture showrooms, is the ideal location for the company’s first UK flagship showroom.
Strettons advised on the deal which saw the company move into 36-42 Clerkenwell Road, a site which offers a prominent position and features an extensive frontage, ideal for showcasing the designer-led bathrooms and accessories from Duravit.
The company has taken the 6,541 ft2 premises on a 10-year lease.
Strettons’ commercial agency director. Jon Cuthbert. comments, “Duravit has a reputation for stunning design and is a company with a considerable heritage. We are therefore pleased to see them opening their first London showroom in Clerkenwell, which is a location which naturally compliments the brand due to a large number of businesses dedicated to quality design and products with a host of furniture and interiors showrooms.”
Founded in 1817, as a small earthenware factory in the Black Forest, Duravit began its production of sanitary fixtures in the early 20th century and from these beginnings now boasts a worldwide presence with its brand being available in over 100 countries.
The vibrancy and historic nature of the Clerkenwell neighbourhood echoes the characteristics of their other showroom locations such as Paris and Milan. The company has ten state-of-the-art showrooms worldwide making their decision to locate in London significant.
This location benefits from being an increasingly popular destination for retail and leisure and upgraded rail links at the remodelled Farringdon tube station will serve to ensure the continued growth of the area.
