Role Overview

Due to the continued expansion of our markets, we are seeking a Chartered Surveyor/Registered Valuer (3 years plus post-qualified) with knowledge and experience of development valuations plus general property valuations to join our Development Consultancy and Valuation & Advisory teams. Experience of loan security valuations is a requirement.

The Development Consultancy Team works on residential and commercial projects throughout Greater London, the Home Counties and beyond. The team specializes in advising housing associations, local authorities and private developers on a wide range of matters, including regeneration projects. A working knowledge of affordable housing, regeneration and compulsory purchase matters, plus Viability Toolkit Appraisals, would be of benefit. The valuation team focuses on loan security valuations for both commercial and residential properties. The team undertakes valuations across Greater London and the Home Counties, with an emphasis on north-east London, for purposes such as loan security, financial reporting, acquisition, disposal, tax planning, and portfolio management.

Both the Development Consultancy & Valuation Teams in the main provide advice in the form of RICS Red Book Valuation Reports. We require a person with good knowledge and experience of providing Red Book valuations on a range of property types and development appraisals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake RICS Red Book valuations of commercial and residential properties (including new build units, development sites, specialist affordable housing, retail, offices, industrial and residential) for a range of purposes in a wide geographical area.
  • Development Consultancy – Valuation of new homes to be built or recently constructed.
  • Development appraisals on properties with and without planning permission.
  • Sometimes working with external advisors as part of larger development teams including planning consultants, architects and viability consultants to advise on redevelopments and regeneration opportunities.
  • Advising clients on acquisitions and disposals.
  • Valuation of mixed and residential-led new-build developments for both private and affordable tenure. housing, as well as commercial space.
  • Experience in dealing with loan security valuations and various panels and banks.
  • Conduct inspections, take measurements, and carry out market research to support accurate and thorough valuation reporting.
  • Liaise with clients, legal advisers, and other stakeholders throughout the valuation process.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, delivering high-quality work to agreed deadlines.
  • Assist in business development, client retention, and fee generation initiatives.
  • Attend client meetings, presentations, and industry events as required.
  • Collaborate across service lines and support junior surveyors where appropriate.

Person Specification

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience drafting both formal and informal reports.
  • Excellent analytical skills, numeracy, and attention to detail.
  • Valuation experience across multiple property types, including retail, office, industrial, and residential and residential development land for loan security and other purposes.
  • Familiarity with lenders and lender panels for loan security work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience using valuation software such as Argus Developer, Argus Enterprise, Valos, and/or KEL.
  • Ability to prioritise, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines efficiently.
