Grade II Listed Red Telephone Boxes to Go Under the Hammer at Strettons’ February Auction
February 05 2026Strettons has published the catalogue for its upcoming Thursday 19 February national property auction.
The company’s first auction of the year features a diverse range of nearly 60 lots from across the UK, spanning the residential, commercial, mixed-use and land sectors.
Notably, the catalogue includes a series of iconic Grade II listed red telephone boxes. Located in Canterbury, Guildford and Enfield, the sites offer potential for alternative uses, subject to consents, including advertising, a coffee kiosk, ice cream stall or small florist. Guide prices range from £7,500 for the Guildford site to £19,500 plus for the site in Enfield. All sites are offered vacant.
In Canterbury, the telephone boxes are located near the busy junction with St Dunstan’s Street, within a conservation area in front of the Westgate Towers Museum and Viewpoint, a popular tourist attraction and the largest surviving medieval gateway in England. The site has lapsed planning permission for change of use to two retail units and is guided at £14,000 plus.
The highest guide price in the sale is Lot 41, a vacant long leasehold 14,552 sq ft commercial unit on Goswell Road, Clerkenwell, with a guide price of £3,650,000 plus.
This is closely followed by Lot 36, a portfolio of three vacant, detached student accommodation properties on Marton Road, Middlesbrough, comprising 86 en-suite rooms and eight studio apartments. Collectively, the properties generated an income of £513,756 during the previous academic year and are guided at £3,200,000 plus.
Residential opportunities include a freehold, vacant three-bedroom terraced house on Holmwood Road, Ilford, with a guide price of £320,000 plus, and a vacant four-bedroom semi-detached house on Rowantree Road, Winchmore Hill, London, guided at £540,000 plus.
For investors seeking income-producing residential investments, the sale also features a selection of leasehold, tenanted flats across London. A one-bedroom flat within the Brick Kiln One development in Lewisham, producing £21,630 per annum, is guided at £230,000 plus. At Marathon House in Wembley, a leasehold one-bedroom flat producing £22,800 per annum is guided at £275,000 plus.
Commercial properties include a freehold commercial investment comprising a double shop with upper parts on Hoe Street, Walthamstow. The property currently produces a total rent of £65,500 per annum and has a guide price of £1,000,000 plus.
